Other bets that yield relatively good odds for craps players include the Pass Line and Don't Pass Line bets, where the house has only a 1.4% edge and less if you're playing with single or double odds. The Place Bet of 6 or 8 is also worthy of your chips because it only carries a 1.52% advantage for the casino.

Knowing the mathematical odds of the dice achieving a certain outcome is the essence of the game. If you are going to play for money, then try and remember these odds.

Craps Dice Odds

  • The craps dice odds and probabilities list as follows: 2 and 12 have only one way they can be formed on two dice, thus carrying odds of 35 to 1 (a one in thirty-six chance of being rolled). 3 and 11 have two possible formations, so the odds of these appearing are 17 to 1.
  • For the basic Pass Line bet the house edge is 1.41. The idea is that you’ll lose on average 1.41% of whatever you’ve wagered when you play this bet. This is actually one of the best odds in craps. However, in a free odds bet there is no house edge. The odds aren’t stacked against you.
  • If you want to understand more about how odds work, see dice odds. You will be at a slight disadvantage with the Pass Line bet since the odds of the dice winning are only 970 times out of 1980. The edge against the dice passing works out as 1.414%.

(B) This column gives the odds against making the dice total in a single roll.

(C) This column gives the odds against rolling the dice total before a 7.

(D) These columns give the odds against making the higher dice total before the lower dice total. e.g. 12 before 6 = 5 - 1. For making the lower number before the higher, reverse the odds. e.g. 6 before 12 = 1 - 5.
